Role Purpose
The Regional Manager will lead the sales force and promotional strategies across the dynamic and highly concentrated Rawalpindi region. This market is uniquely characterized by a dense network of major public hospitals, specialized military healthcare institutions, and a fast-paced urban retail sector. We require an agile, strategic leader capable of driving competitive market share, building a resilient team, and executing high-level corporate campaigns. The role will also oversee operations across Islamabad, Jhang, Attock, and surrounding peripheral areas, ensuring consistent execution of sales strategies and regional growth initiatives.
Core Responsibilities
1. Team Building & Leadership
- Talent Acquisition: Identify, recruit, and retain a high-performing team of Sales Promotion Officers (SPOs) and Area Managers capable of navigating a highly competitive urban territory.
- Team Motivation: Cultivate a culture of accountability, ethical promotion, and continuous improvement. Address field challenges promptly to maintain motivation and low turnover.
- Discipline & Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to corporate guidelines, daily reporting (DCR) protocols, and ethical detailing practices across the region.
2. Sales Promotion & Market Execution
- Strategic Coverage: Develop optimized “Tour Programs” to ensure maximum reach across congested urban routes, cantonment areas, and major institutional hubs.
- KOL & Institutional Management: Establish strong professional relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and leading consultants at major tertiary care centers (e.g., Holy Family Hospital, Benazir Bhutto Hospital, and military/cantonment healthcare setups).
- Campaign Execution: Execute targeted marketing campaigns and adapt corporate promotional inputs to counter aggressive local competitor activities.
- Distribution Management: Oversee secondary sales and ensure seamless product availability across the robust retail pharmacy network and distribution channels in Rawalpindi.
3. Training & Development of Field Force
- In-Field Coaching: Spend at least 15–18 days a month engaged in “Joint Working” with SPOs. Provide real-time feedback on their medical detailing, confidence, and objection-handling skills.
- Technical Product Training: Lead regional meetings to reinforce the field force’s knowledge of product pharmacology, clinical advantages, and competitor positioning.
- Performance Appraisals: Conduct regular performance evaluations. Identify skill gaps and implement personalized coaching and development plans to ensure all team members achieve their sales KPIs.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Pharmacy, Pharm-D, or a Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Business or Life Sciences.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 to 7 years of successful pharmaceutical sales experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial capacity (Area Manager or above) specifically within the Rawalpindi/Islamabad market.
- Market Knowledge: In-depth understanding of the Rawalpindi healthcare landscape, including familiarity with major public/private hospitals, armed forces institutions, and local distributor networks.
- Communication Skills: Excellent negotiation, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Fluency in Urdu and English is required; knowledge of Punjabi/Pothwari is an added advantage for local rapport.
- Mobility: Must be willing to travel extensively within the assigned region and manage high-traffic urban routes efficiently.
